I Want To See You Dance (DJ Supermarkt Edit) - Andy Pratt
In the early 1970s Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "By reviving the dream of rock as an art and then re-inventing it, Andy Pratt has forever changed the face of rock". Rolling Stone were wide of the mark, as they so often were in the classic rock era. It's true that Pratt did start out playing experimental music for a cult audience but it's hard to detect his influence now. Pratt scored one minor hit in 1973 with Avenging Annie but following his move into the mainstream (when he hired Bee Gees producer and smooth music legend Arif Mardin) he was dropped by his record label after the release of Shiver In The Night in 1977. He left the music industry shortly afterwards and returned in the late 1980s to pursue a career on the Christian rock circuit.
'I Want To See You Dance' originally appeared on the Shiver In The Night album and Berlin's Marcus Liesenfeld aka DJ Supermarkt has given this soft rock disco rarity an extra lift. It follows his excellent edit of Capsule by Michael Nesmith and the classic series of AOR radio mixes Nite-Flyte, Too Slow To Disco and Laurel Canyon which have been inspirational to us and many contributors to this site.
