Time Is Right - Footloose
It's time for another track from 1980, possibly the high water mark of the yacht rock era. With its pristine production and tight groove reminiscent of If You Should Sail by Neilsen/Pearson, Time Is Right sounds like it was recorded by the legendary Los Angeles session men of the time. But Footloose was actually from Edmonton in Canada and this is the first recording to feature Canadian legend Tim Feehan on vocals (check out his 1983's Carmelita for evidence of future AOR greatness). Some might say the bass synth on Time Is Right is dated but who can deny the cheekiness here? Unfortunately the rest of the album doesn't measure up to this track, although unbelievably it was Leaving For Maui which became the big hit single.
