Turn It Loose Mix by Flying Mojito Bros
"For this mixtape we really wanted to meld all the 'country disco' tunes we've been digging for a while now, " says the Flying Mojito Bros. "Think upbeat, good-humoured tunes with latin percussion, pedal steel, slide etc and production-wise either a slick LA sound or something more raw and punchy from Muscle Shoals or similar.
It was also born out of our new residency at the Basement Tapes parties thrown once a month at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney. It's always busy and has that great house-party feel that's so often lacking at other nights out in the capital. It's so good seeing people merrily turning it loose to these sounds. There's usually three good-time bands on – often including the ace Basement Bros house band (who cover all the greats) and goes on late until 3am. Perfect.
Centre-stage here are our two most recent remixes – the first, which premiered on Clash not long ago, is our take on the first single from London's best live band Black Peaches, with whom many AOR Disco listeners will already be familiar. They'll be taking the festival circuit by storm this summer we can tell you now.
The second remix, which we'll be putting out on its own on our Soundcloud soon, is our disco-bongo-singalong of a 'Dan classic. Not much more to be said on that other than we absolutely loved putting it together. Enjoy the mix!"
