AOR DISCO EXCLUSIVE #13: She's Mine (Red Ken's Resuscitated Edit) - Steve Perry

Kenny Dickenson is a session musician in London and is probably best known for playing keyboards with KT Tunstall who he's been with for "what seems like donkeys". He's also played with other artists ranging from The Cinematic Orchestra to Aim to Pete Doherty to Natalie Imbruglia and many others. He also writes and produces, and plays various other instruments too.

"I grew up in Manchester in the 1980s where being an AOR freak was very uncool," he says. "But it marked me out as being different at least. Recently I got to work with Daryl Hall. So I can die a happy man. Anyway, inspired by AOR Disco - it was that Andrew Clarke edit of I Keep Forgettin' by Michael McDonald in particular - I went through the buckets of 1970s/ 80s AOR I have on my hard drive and picked out a solo track by Steve Perry of Journey called 'She's Mine' off the 1984 album Street Talk. After a bit of tweaking and tuning it's turned out pretty good and it's inspired me to do another edit. I can't touch any Hall and Oates though. It would just feel wrong!"
